Farmhouse Kitchen

Enriched by 5,000 Years of History

Casali di Casole is deeply rooted in the agricultural history of Tuscany dating back to the Bronze Age, as early as 3000 B.C. Throughout the property artifacts from Etruscan farmers have been discovered, now on display at the nearby Casole d’Elsa

As a guest or owner on these fabled lands one can not help to consider their own place in history.

A Storied Past

The estate’s namesake castle dates back to the late 10th century when it was erected and christened the Querceto Manor.

During the 1800’s the noble Bargagli family of Siena assembled properties surrounding the Querceto Manor, and the estate grew to include more than 30 farms rich in wheat, corn, olives, grapes and livestock.

Families and sharecroppers worked the estate until the 1960s, when it was purchased by the Earl Edoardo Visconti di Modrone Erba, who hosted movie stars and luminaries of the jet set. Timbers Resorts acquired the Tuscan estate and began developing Casali di Casole in the year 2005 and has gently coaxed it into the modern era.

The Restoration

Preserving the rich history of Tuscany and the natural wonders of Casali di Casole and its surrounding Tuscan villas and farmhouses has been an honor for architects and artisans who have made the restoration using traditional methods and reclaimed materials, including wood beams, ceramic tile and terra cotta found throughout the estate.

One can trace the centuries across the stones of walled courtyards and hand-set loggia.

Model Game Reserve

Casali di Casole is recognized by Provincia di Siena as a Model Game Reserve, a testament to the remarkable work of farmers who tend the land and gamekeepers who lead seasonal hunting expeditions on the estate.

Among the many joys of the Reserve are its many scenic footpaths and abundant hare, pheasant and deer have been extremely successful.
